Really my job takes a lot of my time and most of my energy. On average I work between 50-70 hours a week and it is somewhat physical so I have valid excuses to not work on my comic. So week after week I let it ride and update it about every month until my wake up call..

my wake up call is when I get a email from the people who help run my advertisements at Project Wonderful www.projectwonderful.com and they inform me that they will discontinue me because I do not get enough traffic, it hurts. It is just another reminder that I can’t work on my comic as much as I would like and when I do get a chance I neglect it because well.. I am tired.

My wake up call is that in the past few months my story has not progressed to where I want it to so I can open up and really roll with it.

My wake up call should be that really no one is going to read or respond to this post and I am OK with that but If I tried harder to produce something people are interested in then I would not get emails from my advertisers wanting to drop me, I would get feed back, and eventually I will be creating a comic people can enjoy and on the level I know I can.

Thanks Levni Yilmaz (a.k.a. AgentXPQ)for this video to remind me.

See, What had happen is,..

and here is what is going on with Celu.

For those who have been writing in and wanting me to continue, I appreciate the support and encouragement. BUT, (yeah here it comes) I have gotten a very time demanding job where my average days run 12 to 15 hours. In today job economy, I am really lucky to have found this job but at the end of the day I find myself exhausted, out of town and far away from any computers. I am finally catching up to the physical demands of this job and will be continuing the comic but not with any regularity.. or color.. well some color but only as accents or exclamations.

I am going to be streamlining my process to be travel friendly  while on the road with my job and time friendly to get it on the internet with as little graphic tweek work as possible.

please excuse the sudden stop of Celu and hopefully the new art and feel of celu will keep you coming back ! This is a passion project that I am beating myself up for sticking on the back burner. this is just as much as an apology to me from myself as it is to you the reader so I am sorry but we will continue now.

I really like hearing from you so keep those emails, critiques and comments rolling on in!

Dose anyone actually read this comic? My stats on the website read that I get thousands of people coming to my website from America and Belgium (Thank you Belgium-ites).  but I never get a response or comments about anything from anyone so how about throwing me a little vindication and post up some comments or critiques. Its not like I am getting paid for this and i am feeling a little depressed and response (positive or negative) would make me feel better.

Thanks

Tyler

The discovery of cool. In theory.

Today I bought an album off a suggestion of a rather hip and young music store employee. My trepidations as a late 20 something not hip person were voiced by my internal dialogue. which spoke of how young the band looked, How young the girl with the suggestion was and how could these kids really know anything about music, because in my eyes, they look like they were just pulled from there mom’s tit. Well I gave the CD a listen and was reintroduced to cool .. the Band and album is named Foals, Antidotes. http://www.foals.co.uk/home.htm

While driving around I was getting a lesson is awesomeness from this album and began to think on the very nature of “Cool” of “hip” of the invention of trend. And this is some thoughts that I started kicking around.

People who are coming of age are more readily able to gain an understanding of “cool” because they are building and identifying themselves with any form of media and influence available. Because they are looking to find a piece of themselves in a new trend they are open to hear and understand what it is that the media is saying to them. Like radios who are open to receive the transmissions from around the world.

Now if the same people who are coming of age are perceptive enough and have a combination of intuition, perception and luck, they might be able to pull from very few inspirations and resources and create something that is cool. They do not get bogged down in the knowledge of music or art history. Now the knowledge of history is a double edge sword where at one edge there is a universe of inspiration and amazement in what others have done. The other edge is the loss of a individuals expression. How? Well if I am ever painting the night sky in blue spirals I will stop my expression and realize that it looks like a rip off of Starry Night by Van Gogh. The painting might not look like it but after I realize the similarity that is all I am going to be able to see. Death of expression, enthusiasm and the loss of cool. If I did not have the Knowledge of History and had been blissfully unaware I might have been able to make something whole my own and taken an idea into a new direction.. something that is purely my expression. something cool.

The next thing I thought about was assimilation of cool. Now I will go ahead and state that there is more shit out there than good stuff. Like a 18 year old pop star writing a biography. But, there is media out there that is pure in the expression, intelligent in creation and just really cool. So here is my idea on how to reach cool.

If you open yourself only to a little information or media that is the new young idea of cool then identify yourself with it and react in a honest development from that idea. Put your truth and expression on it regardless of the similarity of your project and any others that you know of . And create it with your full ability and enthusiasm.

It will be something of a personal expression, in relation of a stream of media that is relevant at the time and with enthusiasm and passion it will be cool

These kids out there making art are reinventing the wheel to the other kids who do not know what the wheel is. And sometimes the rediscovery of something like discovery is more encouraging than the knowledge of history. Get stupid for a while and just create something that glows with raw potential.

But this is just a theory and some ideas that I am kicking around right now.. I think I am going to play around with artist I like and see what happens.

What do you think? Write a response here or Drop me an email.

MAY BREAK! Kind of.

from page 43 to 46 I will be posting half pages to build up to an awsome full page for an epilogue of part one, and wait till you see the bad ass full page! I have been working to set up all posts for May so that I can take my vacation (WOOO WHOO BITCHES!) sorry.

The next part I think will tighten the story and clean it up from the mayhem that it has become. Also you should see a jump in art as I have been studying some really neat comic book and art resources. To be talked about in future Blag posts.

Also, I have been working at setting up my fine art web page at www.tylerwaddellart.com. Please give it a visit and let me know what you think.

I think this comic book making thing has been great and I can’t wait to get really going on this story! Thank you all for your continued interest and please head on back often and tell some friends.
